What is Practical Adventure?
It is a crucial part of every great story. To catch our attention, stories have to have some practical element, something that we can relate to. Stories also need a daring adventure danger that makes us wonder if everything will be all right in the end.
Practical Adventure is also how I live. Being a female firstborn, I stereotypically show practical, planned, organized tendencies. In fact, the last two fights that I had with my mother were mainly due to my perfectionism. (We have only had three, so it is easy to keep track.) If something does not work, I do not want to waste my time on it; I will either try it a different way or set the idea aside for further pondering.
For all my responsible competency, I have a romantic, adventurous heart. I love to travel, to learn about other people and cultures, and to hear stories. I have discovered, however, that the criteria for “adventure” is highly subjective so mine may seem tame to you. Consider this, though: In having adventures everywhere, I am never bored!
